PitROK Launch New Packaging & Fragrance Options

You may already be aware that the PitROK deodorant you have been accustom to buying has changed. After conducting market research amongst PitROK users and non PitROK users it was clear our customers felt that the packaging was in need of updating. Updating in terms of appearance and functionality with the new style deodorant sprays rectifying the problem of blocking that sometimes occurred with the old style bottles.

Although the packaging has been updated the quality and performance of the deodorants are exactly the same as you have experienced in the past. Great all day protection from body odour without blocking your pores.

In addition we have introduced 2 new fragrance options in the form of a deodorant spray for men and a roll on for women, giving customers more choice and an alternative to the fragrance free deodorants on offer.

PitRok Deodorant Wipes "highly recommended" for Runners

In April's issue of Runners World magazine our PitRok deodorant wipes were tried and tested against Carnation antifungal wipes, Scholl deo-activ wipes and Slazenger sport aid wipes. PitRok deodorant wipes were the editors choice with 4stars with the editor stating:

"Made of organic cotton these wipes are guaranteed not to have been tested on animals. Refreshing, with good deodorising capacity."

Of the back of this editorial feature we had an influx of enquiries about the product, including a running coach called Sarah who was keen to put the product to the test. I sent her a complimentary pack to test out on the basis that she would write back to me with a review of the product. Here is what she thought:

"I used the PitRok deodorant wipes after a race of over 20 miles last weekend, as there were no shower facilities and I had a long drive home. They were effective, easy to use, and did a great job of freshening me up! I also like the smell of them. Would recommend highly."

4/5 Review for PitRok Shampoo & Conditioner

Natural product experts Anderra review PitRok Shampoo & Conditioner:

"Seaweed extract - moisturises and nourishes. Rich in minerals to add texture and shine to hair. Dead Sea Salt - improves hair condition. After using PitRok Sea Mineral Shampoo, smooth conditioner through hair and leave for a few minutes before washing out. If your hair is dry or damaged apply a little conditioner to the ends before drying".

Shampoo

I've not had much luck finding a natural shampoo that works well. They're based on natural oils rather than propylene glycol and are free from artificial foamers - as a result, most do not lather well and have a heavy texture. This makes it harder to work into your hair, therefore harder to reach greasy patches and remove dirt which leaves your hair feeling unclean - especially after a few weeks of using it. So I was pleasantly suprised when I tried this one. It had a light, gel like texture that was really easy to work into my hair. It foamed up beautifully with water and left my hair feeling cleansed rather than stripped.

Conditioner

Like the shampoo, the conditioner had a very light texture. It was a little too light for my curls and I felt the conditioner needed a little more weight to tame my locks. I left it in for around 5 minutes which made my hair feel a bit more moisturised. Having said that, it's the only small niggle I have about this product.

As with the shampoo, the conditioner washed out very easily leaving no traces of product buildup even after using it for 4 weeks! So this would be a fantastic product if you have greasy hair prone to product build up.

Even though both of these products are fragrance free my hair still smelt clean a couple of days after I'd washed it - something I was not expecting when using a fragrance free product. So I've come to the conclusion that most shampoos don't make your hair smell clean, we just think it smells clean because it's perfumed.

The great thing about fragrance free products is you can customise them - a certain smell or for the properties of the essential oils themselves. These shampoos and conditioners didn't have that 'base' smell that many fragrance free products have, which can taint what you add to it. Put a few drops of essential oil into the bottle (if doing this, bear in mind essential oil dilution), gave it a good shake and it's ready to use.

Overall a great product that's perfect for greasy hair or those looking for a light, bubbly shampoo. My hair was left soft, shiney and chemical free!

Looking after the skin you're both in

80% of expectant mums overhaul their daily skin and hair care regime during pregnancy.

Women become more aware of the chemical ingredients used in a lot of beauty products and rightfully become concerned about the effect these could have on their unborn baby.

A survey we conducted found that the majority of women changed their moisturiser (80%), body wash (35%), deodorant (15%), shampoo and conditioner (5%) during pregnancy.

Questionable chemical ingredients were the main concern for mummies to be, with 85% deciding to change their regular beauty and skin purchases. With a heightened sense of smell during pregnancy, many women had gone off the scent of their usual products and preferred to use fragrance free.

Before pregnancy, 33% were mostly swayed by price, but once these women had a baby to protect, cost dropped off the radar as an influencing factor.

New mums become keen on products that offer increased moisturisation (50%) and unsurprisingly skincare treatments that reduce the visible signs of stretch marks (85%).

PitRok Sea Mineral Conditioner 4.5 star rating

"The concept of this conditioner is great,no nasties, not tested on animals, suitable for vegan and vegetarians.

The ingredients sound wonderful too, coconut oil, jojoba oil, olive fruit oil, sunflower seed oil and shea.In a way its a shame it is fragrance free as i'm sure it could smell wonderful. For those that need fragrance free i'm sure it is a godsend!

It does seem rather strange using a product with no scent as i am used to my hair smelling nice. The conditioner isn't as thick as i am used to.

All this said, the product went on well and i left it on for a couple of minutes as suggested. It washed out easily and i could get a comb straight through my wet hair.No tangles!

I dried my hair with a hairdryer and my hair felt lovely and soft.My scalp didn't feel irritated and apart from the lack of scent it really did the trick.I have used this a few times now and doesn't seem to cause build up on the hair either."

PitRok Review Country Homes & Interiors

"This is the first aluminium free deodorant I've tried that works, and it's unfragranced so doesn't clash with my perfume. My skin is sensitive and it didn't cause a reaction, so I'd buy this again."

PitRok Receives 9/10 Review From New! Magazine

In a tried and tested review within New! magazine on Aluminium-free deodorants PitRok came out on top with a rating of 9 out of 10 outperforming rival brands Alvin Connor, Tisserand Aromatherapy, Bionsen & Aubrey Organics. Excellent stuff!

PitRok Packaging Poll

We are in the process of developing a host of new products for the PitRok range. One of those products is an organic cotton deodorant wipe. A convenient and effective deodorant wipe which is kind to your skin and provides instant refreshment and protection.

We thought we would ask you, the loyal PitRok customer, which packaging design you would like this product to be packaged in. Seeing as you are the people most likely to buy them its only good manners really.

So simply leave a message here or email me at info@pitrok.co.uk, stating your favourite design (A,B,C or D) and whichever comes out on top in the poll will be used when the product is manufactured here in our factory in Somerset.

Please note that the browny colour would actually be a metallic gold in reality and the grey a metallic silver.

Thanks in advance.

Snaps From The Philippines

PitRok on Tour: The Philippines

Meet Roland. He's the guy on the right wearing the PitRok T-Shirt. Roland contacted me as an avid fan of PitRok deodorants. He explained to me that his partner had introduced him to the brand after experiencing a skin irritation when using everyday deodorants. After a bit of investigating they discovered that most everyday deodorants contain lots of nasty chemicals and this was the cause of the soreness under her arms. In light of this she sought after a natural deodorant which would allow her to stay odour free without irritation & free from nasty chemicals. This is when, on a trip to Boots, she discovered PitRok. And from what Roland tells me she has never looked back. Delighted with the performance of PitRok. So much so she converted him and the whole family too! Great stuff.

So when Roland called me we got talking about lots of things - non more so then his upcoming trip to the Philippines. It turns out that Roland aka Roland London is a well respected International House DJ & TV producer who had been commissioned by the Philippine Tourist Authority to make a film all about DJ'ing and the club scene in the Philippines. Keen to get involved I offered to sponsor his trip and he offered to take PitRok on tour to the Philippines. Great idea I thought. Anyone who goes to clubs understands the synergy between clubbing and sweating!

So PitRok is offically on tour in the Phillipines. Over the next couple of weeks Roland will be taking PitRok deodorants with him everywhere. When DJ'ing in exclusive night clubs, giving out samples to locals & tourists, photographing & filming PitRok in exotic locations aswell as getting people to try the product and see what they think. Roland will be reporting back on his adventures in the Far East and you can keep up to date with what he is up to via the PitRok Facebook group he has set up by clicking HERE. I will also be posting highlights here on the official PitRok blog.
